General Details of the Scheme
1. This assistance is specifically designed for families who have genuine difficulty in meeting expenses even for basic education for their children up to graduation. Basic education includes studies from pre-primary school up to graduation, such as B. A., B. Com., B.Sc., etc. and post-SSC/ post-HSC diploma/ certificate courses in all branches.
2. Scheme will be applicable to member families whose annual total income of all members of family does not exceed Rs. 3 lacs p.a.
3. This scheme is not applicable for professional degree courses for engineering, IT, medical, MBA, CA/ ICWA/ICS and such others for which Interest Subsidy Scheme of Govt. of India or CDPMM is applicable.
4. Current size of this fund is Rs. 1.51 lacs. Budgetary provision out of interest earned on fixed deposit of this fund for this assistance is Rs. 10,000 per year. However the donor has shown willingness to supplement budgetary provision by further annual donation if genuine requirement for such assistance is for higher amount.
5. Maximum assistance per student will be Rs. 5,000 per year or 50% of annual expenses for education, whichever lower. Assistance will be given for maximum two students in the family.
6. Decision for grant of this assistance will be made by ‘Education Panel’ consisting of (i) Convener for Educational Schemes, (ii) President, (iii) Hon. Secretary and (iv) Managing Committee Member. Convener along with members of concerned panels) shall ensure that the objectives, eligibility criteria and other details of the approved scheme/ fund are fully considered without making any deviations and decisions are taken objectively and impartially. Summary details of the applications received, decision process, eligibility and other decision criteria and actual decisions arrived at shall be recorded in appropriate note. Convener of the scheme shall duly inform in writing the Donor/ Donor’s Representative about the process and decisions arrived at. Panel members’ names shall be recorded in the minutes of MC meeting. Decision taken by the panel shall be final.
7. Every year, the scheme will be announced in April on the web-site and also in the quarterly Mukhpatra ‘Samachar’ of CDP. Applications will be received by the convenor of Educational Schemes up to May and Final Decision will be reached preferably by June end, latest by July middle.
8. In case there are number of deserving cases for such assistance and budgetary provision is falling short, donor will be approached by the convenor for supplementary donation, which will be at donor’s discretion. Donor’s prior consent for supplementary donation shall be taken before taking final decision for financial assistance exceeding budgetary provision. Unutilised budgetary provision can be carried forward for maximum two subsequent years.

Pran Trust – Geeta Pranlal Mehta Education Fund for Medical Studies
General details are given below:
1. Objective of this Fund is to encourage and appreciate young aspiring persons taking Medical career.Medical studies here would include full-time courses leading to the degrees such as M.B.B.S., M.D., D.M., B.D.S., M.D.S., degrees in Physic· Therapy and such other courses. It is expected that beneficiaries under this Fund would contribute back to the community as social obligation in one way or the other.
2. The Scheme will have following components in order of priority within available budgetary provision:

Financial assistance to the needy students in the form of Interest Subsidy to the extent of 50% of actual interest paid on educational loans taken from Banks/ Institutions to meet medical educational expenses, under CDPMM Interest Subsidy Scheme. Maximum assistance of interest subsidy under this fund per student will be Rs. 5,000 per year or 50% of annual interest cost, whichever lower.

Encouragement cash prize to the best performing student in each year of Medical Studies (probably three or four years). Suggested cash prize value is Rs. 500/· at this stage.
3. Current size of this fund is Rs. 1.00 lac. Budgetary provision out of interest earned on fixed deposit of this
fund for this assistance is Rs. 6,000 per year. The donor may supplement budgetary provision by further annual donation from year to year if genuine requirement for the scheme is for higher amount. This would be entirely at the discretion of the donor.
4. Decision for-grant of Interest Subsidy Assistance will be made by a panel/ sub-committee in-charge of Interest Subsidy scheme. Decision for Cash Prizes will be taken by ‘Education Panel’ consisting of (i) Convener for Educational Schemes, (ii) President, (iii) Hon. Secretary and (iv) Managing Committee Member. Convener along with members of concerned panel(s) shall ensure that the objectives, eligibility criteria and other details of the approved scheme/ fund are fully considered without making any deviations and decisions are taken objectively and impartially. Summary details of the applications received, decision process, eligibility and other decision criteria and actual decisions arrived at shall be recorded in appropriate note. Conveners of the scheme shall duly inform in writing the Donor! Donor’s Representative about the process and decisions arrived at.
5. Every year, the scheme will be announced in April for (a) component in point 2 above, and in October for (b) component. The announcement will be made on the web-site and also in the quarterly Mukhpatra ‘Samachar’ of CDP. Applications will be received by the convener of Educational Schemes and Final Decision will be reached within 3 months from the date of announcement.

General Details of the Scheme
1. Objective of this Fund is to promote and encourage young aspiring persons to take Law Studies with a view to make Law as a career. Law can be a career·either as professional practitioner (as Lawyer, Advocate, Solicitor, etc.) or by holding positions of responsibility in the corporate world, institutions, judiciary and such other places. Law studies here would include full-time studies leading to the degrees such as LL. B. (Special), LL. M., Solicitor, etc. from leading colleges/ university, national institutes of law and other institutes of repute. It would exclude part-time courses and LL. B. (General).
2. The Scheme will have following components:

Scholastic Medal to be awarded to the best performing Law Graduate/ Post-Graduate in the entire Chargam Dasha Porwad Community, based on the performance during Final Examination and preceding years as considered appropriate by the deciding panel for this scheme (details of the panel given in point No. 4 below). Scholastic Medal would be of 35 to 40 gm. pure silver with Donor/ Scheme Name, CDPMM Logo or Donor’s Sketch, Awardee’s name, Degree/ Course completed and Date of award, on the same line as Scholastic Medal Scheme for Professional and Post-Graduate Studies in various disciplines. (Current cost of medal is about Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,000/·. Die cost will be borne by the Donor.)

3. Current size of this fund is Rs. 1 .00 lac. Budgetary provision out of interest earned on fixed deposit of this
fund for this assistance is Rs. 6,000 per year. It is believed that number of persons pursuing Law career at present are limited, hence every year there would not be candidates for all the three components stated above. It is therefore considered that, budgetary provision though small would suffice to start with. However the donor has shown willingness to supplement budgetary provision by further annual donation from year to year if genuine requirement for the scheme is for higher amount.
4. Decision for grant of Medal, Prizes and Financial Assistance under the scheme will be made by ‘Education

CDPMM Interest Subsidy on Educational Loans for Professional, Post-Graduate and Doctoral Studies
Education for higher studies is becoming increasingly expensive and beyond the reach of the poor and needy. Mahamandal has limited funds. Even otherwise, extending loans or such other direct financial assistance on repayment basis involves insurmountable administrative hassle in recovery of loans, for which we do not have necessary resources and capabilities.
More importantly Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has 100% interest subsidy scheme for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) for Technical and Professional Courses up to a total loan amount of Rs. 10 laces for the course. This benefit is available to the students of families with income less than Rs. 4.50 laces per annul. The scheme is linked with Educational Loans extended by IBA Member Banks. The loans and interest subsidy are available for the period of study plus one year moratorium, with interest rates ranging from 9 to 13% repayable Details of Government’s interest subsidy scheme and educational loans available are given in Annexure A to this note. CDPMM’s Interest Subsidy scheme is on the similar line, but for students of the families whose annual income is more than Rs. 4.50 laces but less than Rs. 10.00 laces, and consequently they are not eligible for Gol/ Ministry of HRD’s Scheme.
This scheme proposes to extend interest subsidy to the extent of 50% of interest amount paid (maximum 5% p.a.) within limits of available funds for the purpose and maximum amount per student or family.
Shri Kantilal Sankalchand Sheth Scholastic Medal for Medical Studies (Medicine and Surgery)

A scholastic medal for medical studies has been instituted by the family of Bharatkumar Kantilal Sheth, Ahmedabad in the memory of his father Late Shri Kantilal Sankalchnad Sheth.
Award will be in the form of round medal of 35-40 g. pure silver and Certificate and will be given to the best performing candidate in the discipline of Medicine and Surgery for a degree of M.B.B.S., M.D., M.S., D.M., etc. The candidate should have high academic record all throughout beginning from S.S.C. without any break.Rating of overall performance would take into consideration entire academic career beginning from S.S.C., as per the criteria decided by the Award Committee. Decision of the Award Committee shall be final.
Operational year for the award would be October to September as per the date of declaration of the result of the last qualifying examination. The award will be presented in Maha-Adhiveshan or any other important event/programme of CDPMM as per the decision of office bearers of CDPMM. (First award was declared during Maha-Adhiveshan on 6·1 ·2013 at Vadodara.) Eligible candidates for the next award would be those who have successfully completed final degree examinations in the above mentioned courses during October 2012 to September 2013.
All Chargam Dasha Porwad families living anywhere in the world who meet aforesaid criteria are eligible to apply for the award. Candidates should submit the application form duly completed, along with all marksheets beginning from s. s. c. onward to the President, -Shree Chargam Dasha Porwad Mahamandal latest by 30th October 2013.
